Tree’s done!

You can deal with the biblical quotes and references these few posts. Like any really Good Book, it’s got wisdom and history and for many, a great deal more and this is a season when it’s nice if the spirit moves you. You already know I’m quite open minded about the spirits that move you and heaven forbid you confuse my faith and hope with my politics, one way or t’other, but come December, I’m full of good spirit. The concept of Jesus on earth, among men, is like the best of women friends: a gift, an inspiration, an aspiration. That comparison is maybe a sacrilege to some, but He puts me in mind of the poor, the meek, the overtaxed (and I don’t mean the end of the fourth quarter here, but rather the cold and rag tag burdens of the homeless living under the bridges that lead to the Magnificent Mile). Like a really good friend, He reminds me of what I need to do and try to be- and that’s a good thing.

The Heifer Project is a perfect example, in my mind, of Christian charity in action. How clever that it’s also so Buddhist, so Islamic, so Hindu, so rooted in the agriculture and husbandry of winter and summer solstice. We can all join in! I think I’ll send Hoss a flock of geese (as yet, you can’t buy a posse of dung beetles).

So, the tree is more than done. It’s overdone with the magpie hoard of ornaments with history and meaning. No real theme, color way or design style here. It’s the hodge podge of my Christmas past, present, cumulative. There’s a moon jelly there, the Cowardly Lion, birds, shells, lots of glass. Unlike Wilbur, when it comes to my tree I’m not humble. I just think it’s Some Tree.

I’m off to Florida for the final punch list run through and to gather together my Snarl for her Christmas break at home. But I’ll continue to find you over the next few days.
