Luaus and Island Cats

It’s dusk and there’s a luau beginning just under our balcony; I’ve realized we have a happenen’ room view here. They have what can only be a giant pig buried over there in the biggest firepit I’ve ever seen and the live music has started. The guy sponsors for our event- the Xterrra World Championship Triathlon, are all out having their bocce ball and shuffleboard tournament before we head off to a different island restaurant for the "fancy sponsor dinner." I kind of want to hang here and see them dig up this pig but that’s not going to happen. Also, over by the ocean there’s a beautiful bride and her guy cutting the cake. This business of watching life is fun. Brings to mind Jerzy Kozinsky and Peter Sellers, God rest his zany soul.

I was going to do a Thursday 13 list today in honor of turning 55 this weekend: 13 things I just can’t do. Make up is at the top of that list. This morning I applied some horrendously expensive eye cream that reduces age related puffiness and wrinkles. By noon my eyes were swollen closed and I looked like one of those koi.Add to the list things like eyeliner, mascara, fingernail polish and so it goes. I’ll be turning 55 not only botox but make-up free.

TikiCatsWe have a little family of young cats that live poolside. They are very shy but apparently well cared for by the staff. Because they are so timid they stay a good distance so I had only had an off and on glimpse until this evening when I was walking the path and saw the bartender slip them their evening meal. I suspect the life of a cat could be a lot worse.

I’m having a very hard time getting to some of your sites- Kimberly, Margaret and a bunch of you are "still under construction" according to the hotel’s wifi system. I know that you are not but know that I’m trying to visit. AF- I could read your post but not comment. Could you please forward Terrience’s Hawaiian location asap?

  1. They’re sweet looking. Looks like some eat while others keep watch. Hope the watchcats get food too.

The internet here last night was doing very strange things. Blog rolls came and went. Access to blog sites was iffy for a while but other sites were fine. It seem to have fixed itself this morning.

  2. You remember how some Hawaiian guys brought in mongeese to eat the rats, only to discover that the rats feed at night, and the mongos feed by day? Well, anyway, maybe you could get a picture of a mongoose feeding on a heron that was feeding on a koi that was feeding on a kitten. Maybe not, too. But I wouldn’t get too far away from my camera.

  3. No, like Hoss says, carry the camera with you at all times! I love the cat family photos. I hope you are having a great time tonight. Try Prep H for your eyes. I’ve never done it, but they say it takes the wrinkles away.

  5. Happy birthday this weekend, Vicki! Poor little stray kitties. I guess if you have to be a stray cat, a friendly hotel in Hawaii is the place to do it. Keep us updated on the marathon and on Abby’s hurricane plans.

  6. I wish I knew were Terriance is–he’s not answering e-mails so he must be out to sea.

Love the kitties–orange and white, like my boys. Happy, happy birthday this weekend, Vicki!

  7. I am constantly under construction, Vicki, but my site isn’t. I need the security of it all. I love the kitties. Hope you have a great birthday and don’t try any more improving creams. You are perfect the way you are!

  8. You know, Hawaii, for some reason, has never really been high on my list of places to visit. But hell if these pictures and posts aren’t changing my mind!
