Look at me!

On Friday I will be training volunteers for the Red Cross so-no post! Today (Thursday) I put the telephoto lens on my camera with my eye on the
bird feeder where there was a lot of nice late summer activity. I had
counted eleven different species in the morning. I was moving quietly
ever closer…closer…and then McCloud- all 22# of him- plopped down right on my sneaky
feet and began meowing, rolling and rubbing to get my attention. I
tried to shoo him away but he persisted; in the end he resorted to
eating leaves so I gave up on the birds and gave him a good tummy rub. He has very big feet…

And then, for my young friend, Maddie , who had cocoons turning into
flutterbys on the first day of school: my favorite butterfly picture
that I took in Key West last Spring and a back-to-school camouflage moth. I hope this  school year is the best ever, Maddie!Img_8349Flutterby

  1. Your photos are always great, V. Thanks for sharing them.

  2. Oh, I love the lumpy kitty. He is just too cute.
    The butterfly is beautiful.
I am trying to post a pic of Max the dog, he feels left out. But he has a bit of a tummy ache right now. His belly is distended and he didn’t eat supper well. I think he had too many fresh figs today. Dad fed him some this afternoon. So, I am back and forth checking on him. I hope this passes…literally…I really don’t want to have to try and get him to the vet.

PS: The kitties here love the lumpy kitty too. Maybe it’s because at least four of them are lumpy themselves. Have a good day tomorrow.

  3. Great cat photo, especially the second one. The butterfly photo is just exquisite, Vicki, the best I’ve seen.

  4. Vicki, what kind of camera do you have? Your photos are stunning.

How did McCloud get so “big-boned” ?

  5. I think the butterfly picture is pretty. Thank you. You are kind to help the people in the flood. Your cat looks like my cat and my cat is named “Boots”. My neighbor lost her cat and she is very sad. I am going to help her find him. His name is “Timmy”. See you later, Sweet Potato.

  6. She trains the Red Cross, takes amazing photographs, and is kind to animals, birds, and small children! All well and good, but WHAT ABOUT THAT YOGA CLASS??!!

Maddie loved your stunning butterfly photo, Vicki–she never heard “flutterby” before and appreciated that, too!

  7. You do have amazing photos, and words to go along with them!

  8. Friday Ark #52

Cats, Dogs, Spiders and ? every Friday. We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, bee…

  9. Your pics are absolutely beautiful!

  10. I especially dig the pic of McCloud on his back, looking at you like you are one of them stinking papparazzi. Hell, maybe you are. Well, not stinking. Pushy maybe.

  12. Your cat reminds me of my cat: just when I’m about to turn my attention elsewhere he becomes all demanding. When I’m in the mood for play, he wanders off!

Hope you’re training day goes well. Lovely photos as usual!

  13. I would also like to know what kind of camera you have, as well as the lens you use. Beautiful shots.

  14. Thanks! I use a Canon Rebel EOS SLR digital, so it works both on auto focus and also with me doing the settings. The telephoto lens is a Canon zoom lens EF 75-300mm. Because I’ve never read the manual and have yet to take the class that Rich gave me along with the camera I am definitely not a skilled photographer. So- this speaks to the camera more than me. I love it and recommend it.

  15. Great photos of McCloud (I, too, like the second one – what a face!), and the butterfly is stunning. I’ve been hearing great things about the Canon Rebel; Paul and I have made plans to go try one out tomorrow!

  16. I just see Garfield when I look at the middle cat pic. 22 pounds? Amazing. Just how big do housecats get?
