So, are you basking? It’s a little chilly today. My Estonian friend jut flew back today to Tallinn where they have all of four hours of daylight right now. They’re happy when they have snow because it brightens things up.

Lol…animals on birth control…

I get the same question during all of my programs:
“Do the birds lay eggs?” I hate to answer it, because we DON’T let the eggs hatch. I have to explain to people that we are not a breeding facility and it goes against our permit to permit egg incubation and hatching. I reassure them that there are breeding facilities for those birds who are endangered, and that seems to mullify them. We are packed to the rafters sometimes, and when you get two birds of opposite gender, and the same species together, they do what birds do. It’s not like they have anything else to do.

Those animals are so lucky to have such a diligent docent. What a delight it must be to spend time with all of these creatures, Vicki. There’s a blogger in Seattle who comments on our blog sometimes, and she wrote that she lives close enough to the zoo that she can hear the big cats roar. Now that’s a sound I would love to hear from time to time.

Love your zoo report! I did one yesterday on the Atlanta zoo–and I have a great lion photo for you!

I love the meerkat. There’s about to be a meerkat exhibition in Atlanta. I had a cat who used to sit up on his hind legs like that for several seconds at a time. Soooooo cute!
